The Data Security and Protection Tool Kit (DSPT) is an NHS Digital Online Form which all organisations who work with and access NHS patient data and systems must complete and pass.
The tool kit questions are divided into sections covering areas from your public facing privacy and data protection statements, how you store and backup data, your business continuity plans and how your IT security and support is managed.
The tool kit then goes on to ask questions many of which require physical evidence about how you monitor and manage data and IT security both internally and with your partners.
The challenge comes with many organisations not understanding what the questions means and then how to maintain critical access to NHS Data for your organisation when you know you are not meeting the requirements.
